PERAN GURU PENDIDIKAN AGAMA ISLAM DALAM MENUMBUHKAN KARAKTER EMPATI PADA SISWA KELAS VIII DI SMP BINA SEJAHTERA KECAMATAN SUKMAJAYA KOTA DEPOK
XMLThis research is based on the fact that along with the development of the era and the massive flow of digitalization, the younger generation tends to be more focused on personal interests and shows a decline in social concern. With this background, researchers are interested in examining the role of Islamic Religious Education teachers in fostering students' empathy character. This research was conducted at SMP Bina Sejahtera, Sukmajaya Sub- district and District, Depok City. The population of this study was 278 students and 19 teachers while the sample was 2 students and 1 teacher. The data collection instruments for this study used observation, interviews, and documentation. The data analysis techniques used were data reduction, data presentation, and verification. The results of this study are that the role of teachers by being role models for students in fostering empathy by providing good habits, creating a supportive environment, and implementing effective learning methods can play an important role in shaping students' empathy character. In addition, the learning strategies and methods used by teachers also contribute to stimulating the growth of students' empathy character and teacher role models, good habits, and utilization of learning materials are supporting factors and parenting patterns, internal personality, and online learning become obstacles to the role of teachers.
